Pete & The Pirates – Knots

I’m really a big fan of this song, I was a bit suspect of the band when they were on the cover of Artrocker a few weeks ago, mostly due to the bad name, but this song is a seriously good little burst of excellent indie pop.

Young Knives – Terra Firma

An amazing song from an amazing band, already written about the song HERE, and you can download the mp3 of it there too.

Battles – Tonto

One of the best bands of 2007, amazing single and once again, a truly amazing video. Another mammoth 7 minute epic from the NY quartet, with an awesome guitar part in the middle, Mirrored for album of the year anyone?

This. Song. Kicks. Ass.

Yes, the most underrated band in Britain are back with an amazing single. Listening to the first 13 seconds, I thought “Shit, The Young Knives have gone all boring slow guitar chord like.” Thank the Lord I was wrong, straight after those first 13 seconds The Young Knives very own brand of jerky pop rock kicks in with bellowing vocals from Henry Dartnall. The band also still prove that they are the funniest band around with the line “It look like Mother Nature’s got herself a whore/With a disregard for health and safety.” I am definitely seeing them at the Underage Festival. Oh, and this new single has the catchiest chorus since Foundations by Kate Nash, even catchier! You can pre-order the new single here, it’s out on the 27th of August and the lovely Trangressive label.
